Earth Cubs and Zellar team up to help schools turn climate education into climate action

Earth Cubs and Zellar

Sustainability learning platform, Earth Cubs and smart sustainability company Zellar, have joined forces to develop a holistic sustainability solution, designed to help educate school children about climate change, and then take vital action to tackle it.

Whilst Earth Cubs’ free educational platform is already helping an estimated 674,000¹ 3-11 year olds across 2,500 UK schools to understand climate change, Zellar Schools helps schools to understand their own impact and then take action to reduce it. Joining forces means that children on the Earth Cubs platform will now have a simple and powerful way to turn climate education into real-world climate action in their schools.

With plans already underway to co-develop future services that will engage, educate and inspire a generation of school children, Earth Cubs’ initial mission will be to drive its members to sign up to Zellar Schools for only £200 per school, per year. Schools on Zellar can sign up to Earth Cubs free interactive learning platform.

Earth Cubs provides the most important education in the most engaging way to over 5,000 schools across 108 countries. Climate, sustainability and environmental learning with interactive resources, stories and games that inspire kids to love and learn about the world.

Zellar Schools programme helps meet DfE requirements to report emissions and build a comprehensive climate action plan. It starts by calculating their emissions and then focuses them on reducing energy, water and waste. Schools on Zellar can save £4,923 in costs and 3.2 tonnes of CO each in their first year.

Zellar is also full of sustainability missions, designed to help pupils, teachers and parents to drive their schools Net Zero progress forward. The platform also features a public-facing sustainability score - a single number which increases with every sustainability action taken by a school. The excitement of driving their school’s score up makes sustainability feel like a game and drives increased engagement and action. Zellar score also provides an important tool to enable headteachers and MAT (Multi Academy Trust) leaders to compare sustainability progress with other schools - both locally and across an entire trust.

Toby Hunt, CEO of Earth Cubs, said:

‘‘We are so excited at Earth Cubs to partner up with the incredible Zellar. Their sustainability platform allows schools to bring sustainability to the forefront as well as reduce the costs their schools incur. Integrating environmental education into Zellar's platform ensures that schools are ahead of the curve on the march to Net Zero.’’

Gary Styles, CEO and founder of Zellar, commented:

‘’We absolutely love what Earth Cubs is doing to teach children, teachers and parents about sustainability, climate change and the environment. As soon as we saw their platform, we knew it was a perfect fit. We very much look forward to welcoming their school members onto Zellar and vice versa.’’

Styles continued:

‘’We know it’s tough out there for schools, but money shouldn’t be a barrier to climate. Which is why we’ve developed a full sustainability programme that schools can join for as little as £200 per year. And of course, every school as the ability to fund this through unlocking the thousands of pounds of potential savings across energy, water and waste, available in the platform.’’
