Zellar to unveil groundbreaking programme to help grassroots sports clubs tackle sustainability, at exclusive House of Lords event
Zellar is excited to announce that we will be launching a groundbreaking new sports sustainability programme designed to accelerate environmental and financial sustainability in grassroots sport at an exclusive event - ‘Accelerating grassroots sport towards environmental and financial sustainability’ - on September 24th at the House of Lords.
In tandem with Laureus, the global champion of using sport for good, we will be hosting a range of leading brands, sports governing bodies and clubs. Green sports campaigners and former Olympians Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Chris Boardman CBE will join us as keynote speakers, sharing their thoughts on the importance of climate action and its impact on the future of sport.
Our new sports programme, underpinned by Zellar’s digital sustainability coaching platform, offers sports clubs, governing bodies and brands a comprehensive model to measure, improve, and communicate their sustainability performance. By providing access to data, resources, and support, the programme aims to create a more sustainable environmental and financial future for grassroots sports clubs.
For grassroots clubs, the programme will offer enhanced access to funding, resources, and guidance to enhance sustainability, lower costs, and boost participation rates.
For sports governing bodies, the programme will support their own ESG initiatives, aggregate data from all installed clubs and provide additional commercial partner opportunities (net new partners or enhance existing).
For brands, the programme will inform their own ESG profile, build deeper connections with local communities and provide valuable data informed sustainability narratives.
Zellar CEO and founder Gary Styles said: ‘Zellar’s initiative with Coca-Cola and the Music Venue Trust has shown early promise in helping grassroots music venues kickstart their sustainability journeys.
Both sports clubs and music venues are essential cultural and community spaces, and grappling with the same
environmental and financial challenges. By applying the same model to sport we can accelerate the financial and environmental sustainability of clubs across the country and contribute towards the longevity of these important cultural hubs.’
Tanni Grey-Thompson, Laureus Academy Member, said:
"Grassroots sports are the foundation of our communities, fostering health, inclusion, and development. If we want future generations to benefit, we must make them sustainable - protecting the environment while ensuring access and opportunity for all."
Full details of Zellar’s new sports programme will be made available after the event on 24th September. Any club, sports governing body or a sports sponsoring brand that wants to find out more can register their interest here.
