Join The Big Help Out and make a difference in your community

The Big Help Out is a nationwide initiative launching on Monday, 8th May 2023 to mark His Majesty King Charles III Coronation.

Thousands of UK organisations are coming together for The Big Help Out to give everyone the chance to volunteer in their local communities. To encourage participation, Zellar is promoting free resources such as this blog and a downloadable volunteering guide designed to help make volunteering more accessible and impactful.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and create positive change. It not only benefits the organisation you’re helping, but also can improve individual and team development and even enhance customer and stakeholder loyalty.  Through volunteering you can gain new skills, valuable experience, and connect with like-minded people. It can also improve your mental and physical health by minimising stress, increasing productivity, and providing a sense of purpose.

Best practice standards for corporate volunteering suggest between 20% and 25% of employees in an organisation should be volunteering during work hours annually. Zellar businesses can boost their Zellar score (a live measure of their sustainability progress) by meeting and exceeding this target.

How to volunteer?

Zellar connects you with local organisations so you can find a project that fits your business’ needs and budget. You can filter by location and find a range of environmental and social volunteering projects across the UK. From maintaining an agroecological farm in North London to online reading sessions with disadvantaged children.

Zellar has also launched ‘Zellar Together’, an initiative that organises volunteer days, bringing together local businesses to take action in their community. Making it easier than ever to start making an impact. Read more about our first Zellar Together day in Leicester
