North of Tyne Combined Authority invests in 300 Zellar licences
North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) becomes 13th region to join Zellar’s growing Get Zero Get Zellar programme
Software platform helps businesses save money and go green
Supporting NCTA’s drive towards Net Zero
North of Tyne Combined Authority is calling for 300 local organisations to come forward and claim their free one-year access to Zellar, a SMART sustainability platform that enables businesses to go green and reduce costs. Businesses on Zellar can reduce their emissions and save up to £4,100* in energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint by 33%.
North of Tyne is the latest region to sign up to the Get Zero Get Zellar programme – a nationwide initiative designed to help local enterprises kickstart their sustainability journey. The programme will help accelerate NCTA’s drive towards becoming carbon neutral by 2030. The offer is available to the first 300 businesses, charities, and non-profits located in Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, or Northumberland who apply.
Zellar makes it easy for businesses to make a start and take climate action. It helps them to calculate and understand their carbon emissions and then build an achievable plan to reduce them, based on their size and sector. Zellar is already helping over 1,300 UK organisations to plan, activate, measure, report and share their business sustainability journeys, and reduce their energy costs.
With 9 out of 10 SMEs** unaware of even their carbon emissions and many struggling to make any headway when it comes to sustainability. Zellar is designed to tackle this inertia. It helps them to calculate and understand their carbon emissions and then build an achievable plan to reduce them, based on their size and sector.
Each organisation on Zellar gets its own sustainability profile, a public facing page that records every sustainability they’ve action taken. Completing an action earns them points which combine to build a single Zellar score - which is also displayed on their live profile.
Zellar’s online community pages make it simple for organisations to accelerate their sustainability programmes through learning from others. Its online hub encourages organisations to inspire one another by discussing their ideas, projects and learnings as well as to provide mentorship and guidance to those seeking advice.
By joining Get Zero Get Zellar NCTA will also gain access to consolidated data reports, that enable it to track the emissions reduction progress of local businesses as it works towards its net zero target.
NTCA Cabinet Member for Clean Energy and Connectivity Cllr Richard Wearmouth said:
“I’m thrilled that we are the first Combined Authority to offer the Zellar platform and alongside Net Zero North East England can make it free of charge to the local business community.
The platform offers a practical and accessible way to help businesses make real headway in tackling climate change issues whilst also reducing their energy costs and I’d urge organisations to sign up as quickly as possible.”
Gary Styles, founder and CEO of Zellar said:
“This is another testament to our growing Get Zero Get Zellar programme which is enabling councils and other local bodies to get smart around sustainability. It’s also an exciting opportunity for organisations in Newcastle, North of Tyneside, and Northumberland to take control of their high energy costs and emissions and take action to make real climate action. Based on previous ‘first come first served’ programmes we’ve run, I’d urge business to apply early to avoid disappointment.”
