A new green chapter
The Willoughby Book Club is an award-winning personalised book subscription service based in Leicestershire. Their mission is to deliver perfectly curated book selections to all our subscribers, taking the stress out of deciding what to read next. Books are central to what they do, but they’re also on a journey to make their subscriptions as sustainable as possible and help make reading accessible.
Since 2019 they’ve worked hard to make their subscriptions plastic free by using stickers that are printed with biodegradable inks, fully recyclable packaging from sustainable woodland which is made of predominantly recycled pulp. They’re proud to support the local community by using local suppliers.
They regularly audit their workplace to ensure they’re working as efficiently and sustainably as possible, and in addition every Willoughby team member has 8 trees planted on their behalf per year in a sustainable covenanted woodland.
For each Willoughby Book Club subscription sold they donate a brand-new book to Book Aid International to work toward their vision of a world in which we all have access to books and education.
Zellar has been great as a focal point for our efforts on taking positive action. It has enabled us to easily calculate our carbon footprint and invest in offsetting, and become part of a community of businesses that are all working toward the same end.
